World War II combat veteran Hall Duncan receives Bronze Star, Purple Heart, six other medals

Congressman James Lankford, an Oklahoma City Republican, presented World War II veteran, Dr. Hall Duncan with eight medals awarded for service in the European Theater. Dr. Duncan, an Edmond native, only recently learned, after he called Lankford’s office for help in acquiring his military records, that he had earned these medals more than 60 years ago. Upon learning of these honors, the Congressman arranged for the medals to be delivered to his office, and he proudly pinned them on the veteran yesterday (Friday, August 12). The ceremony properly recognized one of the Fifth Congressional District’s most honored combat veterans.

“It is truly an honor to finally present these long-deserved medals to Dr. Hall Duncan,” said Congressman Lankford. “For 67 years, Dr. Duncan did not have the full recognition for his service to our country. His service during World War II showed the courage and commitment of a man who put his country and his fellow soldiers ahead of his own well-being. The sacrifices that he made will outlast any medal. As a distinguished member of the greatest generation, Dr. Duncan’s life after World War II continues to demonstrate his love for God, his country and the next generation. Today’s ceremony was an opportunity to honor a true hero, and all of the Fifth District is proud to finally commend him for his unwavering devotion to our country.”

Dr. Hall Duncan served in I Company, 3rd Battalion, 101st Infantry, 26th Division (Yankee Division), Third Army. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army as a Private First Class.

He was presented this month with the following medals: Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with two bronze service stars, World War II Victory Medal, Combat Infantry Badge 1st Award, and Honorable Service Lapel Button World War II.
