U.S. Senate candidate Dr. Randy Grellner Signs Taxpayer Protection Pledge

Oklahoma City — U. S. Senate candidate Dr. Randy Grellner (R-Cushing) has officially signed the Federal Taxpayer Protection Pledge, a commitment pledge developed by the group Americans for Tax Reform (ATR).

Specifically, candidates signing the pledge agree that, if elected, they will 1) oppose any and all efforts to increase the marginal income tax rates for individuals and/or businesses, and 2) oppose any net reduction or elimination of deductions and credits unless matched dollar for dollar by further reducing tax rates.

“Career politicians have proven time and again they cannot be trusted stewards of the people’s money,” Grellner said.“It has become too easy to simply apply the philosophy of tax and spend without considering the long-term consequences being forced upon our future generations.”

In 1985, ATR was founded by Grover Norquist at the request of then-President Ronald Reagan. The flagship project of the group is the pledge, a promise by legislators and candidates that commits them to oppose any effort to increase taxes. Today, the pledge is offered to every candidate in federal and state offices. More than 1,400 officials have signed the pledge at all levels of government.

Grellner said that in his view the government has too much power to tax hard working families and individuals and that power should be minimized.

“Many career politicians think they can spend millions and even billions of dollars by supporting pet projects and sending funds to other countries without the input of the American taxpayers.

“This puts a huge burden on working Americans. Families must watch their budgets and are not allowed to spend money they don’t have, and Congress should not be allowed to do that either,” Grellner said. “As a doctor, I can tell you we have a prescription to fix Congress, and the prescription is to stop sending career politicians to Washington.”

Dr. Grellner is a candidate for U.S. Senate from Oklahoma. Additional information can be found at www.drgrellnerussenate.com.
