Today (Thursday, July 22) former Oklahoma Commissioner of Labor Brenda Reneau endorsed Oklahoma City attorney Jason Reese in next Tuesday’s Republican primary.

In a prepared statement, Reneau said: “I have had cordial conversations with both of the Republicans who are running in Tuesday’s primary for Commissioner of Labor. I believe Jason Reese will bring conservative values, personal integrity, management principles, professional demeanor and effective advocacy to the job. I promise him my personal support and best wishes. I encourage Republican voters to support Jason Reese.”

Reneau indicated she does not plan any public appearances or interviews during the campaign. Her endorsement was sent this afternoon to CapitolBeatOK and other news organizations.

Reese responded to Reneau’s endorsement by saying, “I welcome Commissioner Reneau’s endorsement and am honored to receive it. She did great things for our state as Commissioner of Labor, from establishing Safety Pays to stopping Davis-Bacon and fighting for Right to Work. I humbly hope that I can follow in her footsteps in serving the people of Oklahoma.”

Reese face businessman Tom Costello in Tuesday’s primary. They are vying for an opportunity to challenge incumbent Lloyd Fields, a Democrat, in November.
