The Oklahoma Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives (OFBCI) announced this week that Freedom Ranch, Inc. DBA Wings of Freedom of Tulsa is recipient of a $20,000 contract from the Reintegration of Inmates Revolving Fund established by House Bill 2101 in 2007.

Wings of Freedom is a sober living facility serving about 150 clients, most of whom are felons in recovery from drugs and/or alcohol. Wings of Freedom currently assists with clothing, food, mentoring, life skills training, substance abuse counseling and securing the necessary documentation for employment.

Local reentry projects were considered for faith-based and community programs that provide post-release services to individuals exiting the state’s correctional system into one of the following Oklahoma communities: Enid, Lawton, Muskogee, Oklahoma City or Tulsa.
Funding is to be utilized for new programs or program enhancements in one of the following areas: education, employment, health, behavioral/character development or case management.

Projects are designed to increase ex-offender stability and promote healthy, productive lifestyles. The Reintegration of Inmates Revolving Fund, facilitated through OFBCI, will invite additional project proposals in early 2011 for funding consideration.
