Rear Admiral (Ret.) Greg Slavonic Endorses Patrice Douglas for Congress

 
EDMOND, OK – Retired Rear Admiral Greg Slavonic, a U.S. Navy veteran, on Tuesday (July 22) endorsed conservative Republican Patrice Douglas for Congress and urged fellow Oklahomans to support Douglas’ candidacy in the August 26 Republican primary runoff.

During his 34 years of service, Slavonic received a number of awards, including Oklahoma’s Distinguished Service Medal, the state’s highest military award. 

Admiral Slavonic praised Douglas’s business experience, work ethic, and dedication to conservative principles. “I am proud to endorse conservative Republican Patrice Douglas for Congress in the fifth district,” said Admiral Slavonic.

“As Mayor and Chairman of the Corporation Commission, she has a proven record of results, challenging the Obama administration’s intrusive EPA mandates and exposing fraud and abuse in the Obama Phone program. In Congress, Patrice will put Oklahoma’s families and small businesses first as she fights create jobs, repeal Obamacare, reduce spending, and bring commonsense solutions to Washington.

“Our veterans and our service men and women deserve a U.S. Representative that has the work ethic and business experience to stand up for our conservative principles and Oklahoma values. She displays the character, integrity, ethical behavior and exceptional leadership that Oklahoma needs in Congress,” Slavonic said.

Commissioner Douglas praised Admiral Slavonic’s dedication and career service to our country. “First, as a proud Oklahoman, we are all grateful for the distinguished service of Admiral Slavonic. I am truly honored and humbled to receive the Admiral’s endorsement and support,” said Douglas.

“I am proud to stand with him as we fight for the conservative values we share. In Congress I pledge to ensure America has a strong national defense and that our service members get the care and support they deserve.” Admiral Slavonic’s career spanned service in Vietnam, Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm and Operation Enduring Freedom (Iraq). During his distinguished service, Slavonic was awarded the Legion of Merit and Bronze Star Medal (two awards), Combat Action Ribbon, and Presidential Unit Citation.

Slavonic is the author of Leadership in Action and Profiles in Patriotic Leadership. Slavonic has extensive ties to Oklahoma, earning his BS degree from Oklahoma State University and a Master’s degree from the University of Central Oklahoma. 

The Republican run-off will occur Tuesday, August 26, 2014.
