Price Lang Consulting establishes UCO scholarship

Price Lang Consulting, an Edmond based-public relations firm, has established a scholarship at the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO) in honor of the business’s fifth anniversary, the company’s founders announced last week.

The Price Lang Scholarship for Communications Excellence in the UCO College of Liberal Arts will be awarded twice a year to a junior or senior level student in the mass communications department. The purpose of the scholarship will be to highlight the importance communications and media have in shaping public policy. Through the UCO Foundation, Price Lang will award one, $500 scholarship each semester for the next five years.

“We are proud of the work Charlie and Emily are doing in the community and honored they chose to share their success with us by giving back to the university,” said Joan Luxenburg, Ed.D., interim dean for the UCO College of Liberal Arts.

Price Lang Consulting is a strategic communications and public relations firm. The company, which launched in 2011, offers internal and external communications counsel to organizations and companies ranging from local non-profits to a global corporation.

The company’s founder, Charlie Price and Emily Lang, are both UCO graduates.

“From the beginning of our business, Charlie and I have always known we wanted to find a way to give back to our alma mater,” said Price Lang Partner Emily Lang. “It is important to us to support the next generation of creative communicators. We believe journalism and mass communications have an important role in shaping public policy, and establishing this scholarship is our way of supporting that mission.”

The scholarship was announced in partnership with the UCO Foundation at an open house event hosted at Price Lang’s new office, which is located at 2000 S.E. 15th, Building 300 in Edmond’s Turtle Creek Professional Village.

More than 100 people attended the event, which also showcased art from local artists including Sherry Gruber, Natasha Jones, John Lang, Eric Lyons and Nate Wiewel. The art will be available for sale in the office through the end of the March.

“When we started our business, we were blown away by the support we received from our local creative community,” said Price Lang Partner Charlie Price. “We will continue to showcase local art as another way to give back to our community.”
