Oklahoma’s State Representative Jim Olsen, State Senator Nathan Dahm Promise to Protect Pro-Life Policies

Oklahoma City – State Representative Jim Olsen, R-Roland, and Sen. Nathan Dahm, R-Broken Arrow, on Monday (November 14) released a statement reiterating their continued dedication to fighting for pro-life policies in the upcoming legislative session.

“New allowances for abortion might come veiled as compassion and care for difficult and tragic circumstances. In fact, this is not the case at all. This would be nothing less than the taking away of innocent human life.

“Oklahoma is blessed to have the strongest set of laws in the country to defend innocent unborn life. Our babies deserve nothing less.

“We must have courage to defend innocent unborn babies against expanding allowances for abortion. Compromise is not the right choice when the issue is defending life.

Let’s keep first things first — each child has a right to life.”

The legislators co-authored Senate Bill 612, which classifies performing an abortion as a felony, punishable by up to 10 years in prison or $100,000 in fines.

The new law was signed into law April 12 and went into effect in August.
