Oklahoma Governor’s International Team selects Brenda Barwick as 2018 chair

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma Governor’s International Team (OKGIT) has elected its executive committee for 2018. Brenda Barwick, of Jones PR, will chair the panel. Also elected 2018 officers are Douglas Price, of Tulsa Community College, as Vice Chair; Randy Kellogg, of Prosperity Bank, as Treasurer; Bob Lieser, of Tulsa Global Alliance, as Secretary; and John Curzon, of CCK Strategies, as Immediate Past Chair.

“It is a privilege to serve the Governor’s International Team as chair this year. As the only organization that brings all sectors with global interests to one table, the Team positions Oklahoma at the forefront of international business, diplomatic events, cultural activities and international students,” said OKGIT Chair Barwick. With eight years of international diplomacy and disaster relief experience, Barwick’s company, Jones PR, is a global partner in PROI Worldwide, the largest partnership of independent public relations firms in the world spanning 120 cities on five continents.

OKGIT recently hosted the 2018 Oklahoma Consul Summit that attracted diplomats from 10 countries interested in economic development opportunities in the state. In addition, the Team hosted a Lawmaker Meet and Greet during International Student Day at the Capitol that was attended by more than 50 international students studying at Oklahoma universities.

The mission of the OKGIT is to advocate for sustainable economic development through export trade and attract foreign direct investment, and to encourage and facilitate the globalization of Oklahoma. It was established in 2001 to act as an advisory and coordinating entity for the state’s business, cultural, government and diplomatic ties to the world.
