The Oklahoma City University School of Law will host a forum at 7 p.m., June 9 for candidates in the 2010 race for state Attorney General. The event is free to the public and will be held in the Homsey Family Moot Courtroom of Sarkeys Law Center at N.W. 23rd Street and Kentucky Avenue.

Three candidates have filed in the race to succeed current Attorney General Drew Edmondson. Republicans Ryan Leonard and Scott Pruitt are contending for their
party nomination. Leonard is an Oklahoma City attorney.

Pruitt is the managing general partner of the Oklahoma City RedHawks and a former state senator from Broken Arrow.

Oklahoma City attorney Jim Priest is running for the office on the Democratic side.

“For the first time in 16 years, Oklahomans will elect a new attorney general,” said OCU LAW Dean Lawrence K. Hellman. “With our longstanding commitment to public service, OCU LAW is pleased to promote voter awareness in this important election.”

The forum will be moderated by OETA deputy director and managing editor Dick Pryor.

Organizers of the forum say seating is limited. Visit the Oklahoma Lawyers Association website at www.oklawyers.org to reserve a seat.

OCU is also hosting a candidate forum for state governor and superintendent of public education at 4:30 p.m. June 16 before the primary elections this summer. The forum is free to the public and will be held in the Meinders School of Business at N.W. 27th Street and McKinley Avenue.
