OK Policy to host Washington Post columnist for Budget Summit

OKLAHOMA CITY – E.J. Dionne, a columnist with The Washington Post, will be keynote speaker at the Oklahoma Policy Institute’s late January budget summit, David Blatt of OK Policy has announced.
The summit is slated for Thursday, January 29 at Oklahoma City’s Will Rogers Theatre. Dionne is also a fellow at the Brookings Institution, and a regular contributor to National Public Radio’s “All Things Considered” and other national radio and television news programs.
Blatt said the day-long summit “will begin with an overview presentation on Oklahoma’s tax and system and include panel discussions on the state’s economic and fiscal outlook and efforts to enact meaningful tax credit reforms.” Dionne’s keynote during lunch hour will address the political situation in Washington following the Republicans’ victories earlier this month.
Dionne is among America’s most widely-read political observers. He joined the Washington Post as a political reporter in 1990 and began writing his twice-weekly column on national policy and politics in 1993. In 1996, the column was syndicated by The Washington Post Writers Group and now appears in more than 90 newspapers in the United States and abroad.
Prior to joining the Post, Dionne spent 14 years at The New York Times, covering local, state, and national politics, and also served as a foreign correspondent in Paris, Rome and Beirut. In 1996, he joined The Brookings Institution as a senior fellow in the governance studies program.
Dionne began teaching at the Georgetown Public Policy Institute as University Professor in the Foundations of Democracy and Culture in the fall of 2003.
