Ninety-four members of the Oklahoma House take oaths of office

Ninety-four members of the Oklahoma House of Representatives took their oaths of office Wednesday, November 16, in the House Chamber.

The oath was administered by the Honorable Richard Darby, Chief Justice of the Oklahoma Supreme Court.

The remaining seven members will take their oaths of office on a later date.

The House will consist of 81 Republicans and 20 Democrats.

There are 16 new members and 85 returning members.

Analysts have noted the relative scarcity of competitive elections on November 8 or, in several cases, elections that were decided in the primaries and runoff elections.

Newly-elected Republicans include Newly-elected Republicans include John Kane, House District 11; Neil Hays, House District 13; Cody Maynard, House District 21; Chris Banning, House District 24; Collin Duel, House District 31; John George, House District 36; Josh Cantrell, House District 49; Nick Archer, House District 55; Clay Staires, House District 66; and Mark Tedford, House District 69.

Newly-elected Democrats include Jared Deck, House District 44; Annie Menz, House District 45; Suzanne Schreiber, House District 70; Amanda Swope, House District 71; Ellyn Hefner, House District 87; and Arturo Alonso, House District 89.

The full House will officially convene for an organizational day on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, and the First Session of the 59th Legislature reconvenes on Monday, February 6. The members took their oaths of office on the anniversary of the day Oklahoma became the 46th State in the United States.
