Lankford secures wave of conservative endorsements

OKLAHOMA CITY – U.S. Rep. James Lankford, R-Oklahoma City, is racking up a series of strong endorsements as he seeks to replace Tom Coburn in the U.S. Senate.

This week, Lankford garnered the nod of U.S. Sen. Rand Paul, R- Kentucky, a national hero for advocates of limited government.

In a statement, Sen. Paul said, “As we strive to retake the majority in the United States Senate, it is critical that we elect principled conservatives who will stand for the values of liberty that Oklahomans and Americans across the country hold dear. James Lankford has already shown leadership in Congress, holding the President accountable for Obamacare and the IRS Scandal.”

Also this week, Lankford garnered the endorsement of the Concerned Women Political Action Committee (CWPAC), which with 500,000 members touts itself as the nation’s largest public policy organization focused on women’s issues.

“James is not only a solid vote on pro-life and pro-family issues, he is a leader on those issues. He is exactly the type of person Washington needs. He is committed to principle and will not compromise his beliefs. He is not beholden to the Washington elite. James is the same man now as he was when he first arrived in D.C., which is a rarity in this town,” said Penny Nance, president and CEO of CWPAC.

And last week the two-term congressman gained the support of pro-family leader Phyllis Schlafly and her Eagle Forum PAC.

“James Lankford is a true public servant, not a career politician. He has proven his loyalty to conservative values during his time in the House of Representatives, and he will not change in the Senate.

“As President Obama recklessly grows the size of government and disregards the rule of law, James leads the fight to hold him accountable. As a senator, he will continue to stand against Obamacare and other liberal boondoggles. He will also continue his efforts to find the truth behind the administration’s numerous scandals, such as Benghazi.

“James Lankford will push forward the pro-family agenda with honesty and integrity,” Schlaflay said in a statement sent to CapitolBeatOK

Other Lankford supporters include U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wisconsin, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, 2012 GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney, Ambassador John Bolton, evangelical leader Jay Sekulow, and U.S. Rep. Darrell Issa, R-California.
