Gov. Brad Henry issued the following statement yesterday (Wednesday, December 8) in support of the federal tax plan announced by President Barack Obama. 

“I commend President Obama for putting the real needs of Americans ahead of political ideology. With Oklahoma and the nation still struggling through the current economic slump, preserving these tax cuts will help working families in Oklahoma and elsewhere and spur the economy to greater growth and recovery. This bipartisan agreement will help all Americans — from college students to small business owners to those struggling to find employment.”

Henry, a Democrat, concluded, “In reaching across the aisle, President Obama has shown that bipartisan agreement trumps political stalemate. Working together, Democrats and Republicans can forge compromises that benefit all Americans and move our country forward.”
