Fred Jones Family sets June 15 application deadline for $75,000 grant to Oklahoma nonprofit

Oklahoma City – The Fred Jones Family Foundation, a nonprofit and charitable foundation dedicated to supporting 501(c) organizations that increase the quality of life in central Oklahoma, has announced that applications for the 2018 Mary Eddy Jones Signature Gift are open through Friday, June 15.
In honor of the late Mary Eddy Jones — Fred Jones’ wife who consistently sought to improve arts, culture and beautification throughout central Oklahoma — the $75,000 grant was created to award organizations who are at least three years of age and have a primary focus on arts, culture and/or landscaping improvements. Applying organizations must be based in Oklahoma and registered with an official tax-exempt status letter under Section 501(c) of the Internal Revenue Code.

“The grant in my grandmother’s name has helped many outstanding nonprofits and charities in central Oklahoma,” Fred Jones Family Foundation Chairman and President Kirk Hall said. “We’re honored to continue her legacy with a gift that signifies her continuous impact on the arts, culture and beautification in our state.”
The 2017 signature gift was awarded to the Oklahoma Hall of Fame and Gaylord-Pickens Museum for the creation of the Mary Eddy Jones Sculpture Garden in honor of Jones, a 1978 inductee to the Oklahoma Hall of Fame. Past grant recipients include the Peppers Ranch Foster Care Community, Mercy Health Foundation, Central Oklahoma Humane Society, YWCA of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma City Community College, the Oklahoma Zoological Society and the Myriad Gardens Foundation.

The 2018 Mary Eddy Jones Signature Gift will be awarded later this year. Grant applications and additional information can be found at http://fredjonesfamilyfoundation.com/application.html.
In other news from the foundation, the Oklahoma Hall of Fame & Gaylord-Pickens Museum was recipient of the 2017 Mary Eddy Jones Signature Gift. The $75,000 grant will be used to create the Mary Eddy Jones Sculpture Garden honoring the late Mary Eddy Jones, a 1978 inductee to the Oklahoma Hall of Fame and the wife of Oklahoma entrepreneurial icon, Fred Jones.
The sculpture garden will be on the south lawn of the Oklahoma Hall of Fame and is intended to highlight Oklahoma artists. Proposals for submissions will go out to the art community later this summer, followed by installations, and an unveiling prior to the 2019 Oklahoma Hall of Fame banquet and induction ceremony.
“The grant in my grandmother’s name has helped many outstanding nonprofits and charities in central Oklahoma and we are very pleased to be able to add the Oklahoma Hall of Fame & Gaylord-Pickens Museum to that list,” Fred Jones Family Foundation President Kirk Hall said. “We are honored to support the Hall of Fame with this sculpture garden and are particularly pleased that we could do it on the 40th anniversary of my grandmother’s induction into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame.”
