Dolese Bros. Co. hosts Fallin, Costello to celebrate $20 million investment at Coleman Quarry

Coleman, Oklahoma – Dolese Bros. Co. held a grand reopening ceremony Wednesday (July 15) at the Dolese Coleman Quarry.
The event celebrated the more than $20 million investment Dolese has made in upgrades to their Coleman operation. This investment improves Dolese plant operations, and benefits southeast Oklahoma communities as well, company officials said.
Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin, Secretary of Transportation Gary Ridley, Commissioner of Labor Mark Costello, and local, state and federal officials from surrounding communities attended. Dolese President Mark Helm spoke on the economic drive the quarry provides for the local community while emphasizing Dolese’s commitment to maintaining the highest safety and efficiency standards technologically possible.
“The Coleman Quarry is important to the company and region, supplying crushed stone products that form roads, bridges, schools, medical and recreational facilities, and our homes,” said Helm. “These products make our communities a comfortable place to live, work and play.“
Governor Fallin reflected, “Dolese is what I call a great corporate citizen. They volunteer in the communities that they serve, they give generously, financially to various charities and various events.
“Recently they’ve helped the Coleman Volunteer Fire Department serve Johnson County who needed immediate flood assistance.
They have also stepped forward and helped with the local United Way Nature Conservancy and make it a priority to take care of the land, water and the air in our state.”
Oklahoma Commissioner of Labor Mark Costello also participated in the celebration for Dolese Brothers.
The state Department of Labor he runs, Cosello said, is “involved in supporting safety at the Dolese project.”
He observed, “You can literally and figuratively say that the foundation of Oklhaoma has been built on the work of Dolese Brothers.” He pointed out the “Old Highway 77” – a road that is still used – was built with concrete from Dolese.
“If you look at their place in the business and economic history of Oklahoma, they have been delivering a product at affordable rates for more than a century. They help keep homes, and repairs of all sorts, affordable here in our state.
And, in Oklahoma, they encounter a business situation that is in marked contrast to the anti-business policies in too many places elsewhere in the country.”
Dolese’s investment, in excess of $20 million, was important to meet growing demand in the area and expand the number of products available to customers.
The facility was more than 30 years old and had grown inefficient. The new updated equipment will work to make the Coleman operation more productive by improving energy consumption and increasing job safety.
This investment will create news jobs for the area and help build stronger communities in the southeast Oklahoma.
