A surprise attack, and a reminder that evil exists

America has been reminded that evil exists.

Losing loved ones is painful. Losing them during Christmas season hurts more. Losing them to mass murder hurts even worse.

Yet sympathy for victims and families was an afterthought in San Bernandino, California, as political agendas were promoted even before we learned about the how and why of the killings.

Those who rushed to promote gun control are hard-pushed to explain how that is an antidote to stop terrorists who blithely break laws as easily as they break moral codes. Nor does that address the pipe bombs that these terrorists also made, similar to those used in the Boston Marathon bombings.

Gun control will never end Islamic terrorism. And combating Islamic terrorism will not bring back the San Bernandino victims. But being aggressive against terrorism is what it takes to save lives before the next attack.
