A key Republican legislative leader echoed the upbeat analysis given to reporters on Friday by the top GOP leader for Senate Republicans.

In a prepared statement sent to CapitolBeatOK, Senate Majority Floor Leader Todd Lamb, an Edmond Republican, has concurred with the positive assessment departing President Pro Tem Glenn Coffee gave to the just-concluded session.

“This session, our objective was to create policy that makes Oklahoma a place of opportunity. A significant portion of that goal was reforming a worker’s compensation system that often stifles small and large business growth,” Sen. Lamb said.

“We enacted reform that will keep jobs in Oklahoma while still protecting the Oklahoma worker,” he continued. “My colleagues in the Senate and the House have are committed to bring greater economic and educational opportunity to all Oklahomans, and we have made good on that commitment.”

In related news, during a conversation with CapitolBeatOK after Friday’s Senate adjournment, veteran political reporter and commentator Frosty Troy gave permission to include this assessment: “Todd Lamb is the best floor leader since Ted Fisher. He gave everyone a chance to have their say.” Troy gave permission for us to report his positive views of the young GOP leader’s performance.

Just moments before President Pro Tem Coffee gaveled the 2010 session to a close on Friday, he gave his own high praise to fellow Republican Lamb. He praised him, among other things, for assuring the upper chamber ran on time.

After Coffee’s remarks, Lamb received a lengthy ovation from fellow Senators in both parties.
