Several hearings scheduled at the Oklahoma state Capitol in Oklahoma City for Tuesday (February 1) have been cancelled as a result of the state-wide declaration of an emergency, issued this afternoon by Governor Mary Fallin.

Late Monday afternoon, Joel Kinstel, clerk of the House, distributed this message to those working at the Capitol:

“In accordance with the instructions of the Commissioner of Public Safety, the House of Representatives will be closed for the entirety of Tuesday, February 1, 2011, due to inclement weather.  For Wednesday, February 2, 2011, please check the House Weather Hotline at (405) 557-7300.  The Weather Hotline will be updated as conditions warrant.  Please exercise caution tomorrow and over the next few days.”

Cancelled for now is the envisioned day-long joint meeting for the House Appropriations and Budget Subcommittee on Natural Resources & Regulatory Services and Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Natural Resources & Regulatory Services.
